Interiors are indoor locations on moons where scrap is found.

Interior types

The Factory

The main entrance of the Factory

The Factory is the most common interior type, mostly found on free moons.

It consists mainly of labyrinthine concrete hallways and corridors, storage rooms, and grated catwalks.

Rooms

  • Main entrance: The first room employees enter into, consisting of a grated flooring and large fan spinning above.
  • Catwalks: Narrow grated platforms lined with metal railing raised above a deep pit.
  • Broken catwalks: Two catwalks with broken railing separated by a large gap. A bent metal beam spans halfway across the gap allowing employees to jump from one catwalk to the other.
  • Staircases: Grated staircases raised above a pit allowing traversal of both floors of the Factory.
  • Hallways: Sporadically lit concrete hallways arranged in a maze-like configuration.
  • Hallway intersection room: A large hexagon shaped room with multiple routes leading to more hallways. Occasionally features a large boiler in the center of the room.
  • Storage rooms: Large concrete rooms with shelves throughout and occasionally having a staircase leading downwards.
  • Server rooms: Similar to storage rooms, but with dense server racks located throughout the middle.
  • Balcony room: A large room with a rectangular pit in the middle, as well as stairs leading up to a balcony overlooking the room. Up to two openable lockers can be found lining the walls underneath the balcony's stairs or in the opposite corner.
  • Manufacturing room: An extremely large room featuring four paths deviating from a shared platform. Two paths lead to a large narrow section of the room separated by a pit, the other leads to another narrow area with a conveyor chute lining a wall, while the final path is a catwalk that extends to another room.
  • Apparatus room: A room with shelves, a large power machine, and a socket in the wall next to it containing the Apparatus.

The Mansion

The main entrance of the Mansion interior type

The Mansion is primarily found on paid planets, specifically Dine and Rend, but can appear on any moon as a small chance, excluding March.

It consists mainly of grand carpeted hallways and rooms adorned with bookshelves, fireplaces, and other household furniture.

Rooms

  • Main entrance: The first room employees enter into, consisting of a large foyer with stairs leading up to a second floor balcony overlooking the room. Occasionally spawning with bookshelves on the ground floor.
  • Library: A room with bookshelves and a staircase allowing traversal of both floors of the Mansion.
  • Fireplace room: A room with a fireplace.
  • "Window" room: A room featuring a screen displaying a farmland scenery.
  • Staircases: A room with a staircase leading upwards.
  • Kitchen: A room with checkered flooring and kitchen essentials such as a fridge, table, and oven.

Strategy

To avoid or kill entities within the Mansion, players can:

  • Jump on top of the large bookshelves found in the main entrance. (Entities can make it on top of these bookshelves, so the only use for this is to jump to another disjointed bookshelf in the main room. This will cause the entity to either fall in between the bookshelves or go all the way around to try and kill the player.)
  • Jump on top of large tables.
  • Jump on top of kitchen counters.

Interior features

Fire exits

Every building has at least 1 fire exit, which will lead into a random part of the structure. It can lead into (seemingly) any room, replacing an existing space for a doorway.

Security doors

Found only in the Factory, security doors can be opened and closed using the terminal aboard the ship. When power is lost, either through a breaker panel or the removal of the apparatus, all security doors will permanently open.

Vents

Every interior contains multiple small vents lined along walls. Entities spawn out of vents, making noise as they are about to crawl out. Vents appear as red lines along the walls of the building when viewed on the ship's monitor.

Breaker panel

The Breaker Panel can be opened to reveal 5 switches, which can be turned to disable or enable power in certain areas of the facility. While it can be used to open and close security doors, it is recommended to just flip them all on, pointing left, when found to allow better visibly for everyone exploring.

While on, it will make a low pitched mechanical humming noise alerting players to its location.

Fan

As of version 50, The large fan above the main entrance of the Factory has been more than just a decoration. If any employee flies up to it using a jetpack or Tulip Snakes, they will immediately be killed by the high-speed rotating fan blades.

Steam leaks

Found only in the Factory, steam leaks obscure player vision in hallways similar to fog, only dissipating when turning a valve found nearby. Players continuously shaking their camera while staring at walls within the steam will have increased visibility and a higher chance of finding valves. Valves cannot be turned by a player holding a two-handed scrap item.

Traps

Traps are manmade hazards found indoors, all posing a great threat to employee safety.
