From Lethal Company Wiki

This page serves as a style guide for documentation and editing on Lethal Company Wiki. These guidelines aim to make the wiki experience coherent and consistent, but are by no means mandatory to follow. These guidelines, alongside the rest of the wiki, are a work in progress and open to discussion and change as the community deems fit.

As a general rule of thumb, if a question about editing style is not answered here, it is never a bad idea to consult Wikipedia's own guide. The layout, grammar and tone of most, if not all articles, should always seek to use this guide as a foundation.

Information

Articles should seek to provide objective, important information about a given topic. Lethal Company is by nature a game shrouded in mystery for a lot of players, due to its genre and relative infancy on the internet. Therefore, the wiki should strive to provide information that is objective and backed by sources. Hearsay and speculation should be included only with an ample disclaimer - an article that presents misinformation as fact is bad for everybody involved.

References and citing sources

In an ideal world, every claim made by an article (eg. A Bracken can be killed with three shovel hits) should be referenced with an appropriate source. That's not entirely possible considering the nature of this wiki, but it can be very helpful to link sources where possible, such as videos or patch notes that can back up any objective claims made by an article. This guide will not cover how to cite sources, but a Wikipedia help page exists here.

Please do not directly paste in game code onto the wiki, instead reference where the information was found.

Style

  • Only bold the first reference to the page's title. Do not bold every reference to it. In the case of wildlife, leave the Bestiary entry unformatted, as seen in-game.
  • Articles that cover content in the game should generally be structured in such a way so that the most important or factual information is at the top, and less useful info or speculation is toward the bottom. An example of this can be found on the Hygrodere page.
  • Mechanics sections should list as much detail as possible regarding the mechanics, statistics, and behavior of the subject. The tone for this section should be strictly factual, advice for how to handle these details should be saved for the Strategy section.
  • Strategy sections should offer repeatable and consistent ways to deal with the wildlife.
  • Use the term "employee" when referring to the characters that players control in-game. This is subject to change based on community consensus.
Thumpers can easily outrun employees in a straight line.
  • If you're uploading an image only use PNG files as it makes it easier to fix if things get outdated.
  • It's a good idea to check with people before removing things or letting people know what is changed and getting second opinions, any meaningful changes should have change info.
  • Take caution to use American English spelling (i.e. favorite instead of favourite).
  • In game images are preferred for everything expect certain small scrap items, as its usually what people are looking to see.
