Company description[edit]
Radar boosters come with many uses!
Use the "SWITCH" command before the radar booster's name to view it on the main monitor. It must be activated.
Use the "PING" command before the radar booster's name to play a special sound from the device.
Overview[edit]
The Radar Booster can be purchased in the Store. When turned on, it can be used as another camera from the terminal. It also appears when an employee scans (right clicks).
The radar booster will be assigned a random name the first time it is turned on. The assigned name can then be filled into the [RADAR BOOSTER NAME]
mentioned below. All the possible names are:
Betty, George, Billy, Kablam, Susie, Igor, Gilbert, Daryl, Seth, Sam, Brody, Blue, Freddy, Sam, Bobbie, Louie, Albert
But if the radar booster wasn't turned on since purchased, it will stay "Unnamed" while scanning, and can neither be viewed on the ship camera, nor be selected from the terminal command.
Available commands[edit]
The following commands are only available on the ship terminal, and it requires the target radar booster to be turned on beforehand by holding it and clicking LMB.
PING [RADAR BOOSTER NAME]
This command will cause the radar booster to emit a "hello" sound, helping guide employees to its location or attract hearable entities to it.
FLASH [RADAR BOOSTER NAME]
This command will cause the radar booster to flash. The effects are similar to a stun grenade exploded in the radar booster's position, except there's no damage to the employees standing at the center, and the stun time has only 1.75 seconds at base.
Despite the short stun time, this flashing ability allows for some very interesting tactics because of its reusability and portability.
Strategy[edit]
Employees can place the radar booster right at the main entrance of indoors to act as a beacon in case an employee gets lost. It can also be placed to relocate loot or keep watch for enemies.
It could alternatively act as a long lasting light source while held, but it also consistently occupies the right side of view, making it dangerous if there's hostile entities coming from your right side.
Doorway guardian[edit]
A radar booster can be placed right in front of the ship doorway. It can be used to repeatedly flash
incoming forest keepers, clearing a path for outside employees, or ping
to guide lost employees back to their right track.
Flashbang strategy[edit]
The flash
command gives an employee a way of repeatedly disabling a creature. Due to its fairly short cooldown, lack of maximum uses, and the fact that the booster can be easily moved around, one could easily set up an ambush for Thumpers (or any other indoor entity), making their disposal significantly easier. One does have to be wary of the fact that the blinding flash does also blind and slow the employee.
A radar booster can be given to a Hoarding Bug to locate its nest. Additionally, the flash
command may be used to disable any guarding Hoarding Bugs.
The employee could also carry the radar booster with them on maps where forest keepers are particularly prevalent, as the Forest Keeper can be stunned with the radar booster's flash. If the command is timed well enough, the employee can make an easy escape.
The command also disables Coil-Heads for a brief period of time, allowing the employee to turn around and look for an escape.
